Joske Simmelink
Joske Simmelink is a dedicated artist and creative originally from The Hague. She loves working with natural elements such as florals and food in her current series ‘Perishables’ which is an ode to impermanence and simplicity. Ceramic forms offer a graphic structure, this intensifies the fragile, pure and poetic tone. Joske gets intrigued by quirky shapes, she extracts and rearranges them meticulously into aesthetic compositions. The settings are captured on camera to prolong their enjoyment.
The natural objects are portrayed abstract, but not unrecognisable, emphasising a subtlety that is essential in her work. Joske’s workflow is very intuitive. Creating is always alternated with long periods of research and sketching.
