Camille Speekenbrink
Camille Speekenbrink (1998, The Hague) is an artist based between The Hague and Leeuwarden. She graduated from the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht with a Bachelor of Fine Art in 2025.
Her practice centers on the collection and transformation of images. Certain images remain with her long after their initial encounter, gradually becoming part of a larger web of memories and experiences. Working primarily with charcoal on large sheets of paper, Speekenbrink brings together fragments that seem connected before their relationships are fully understood.
Rather than focusing solely on individual images, she is interested in what occurs between them when they are placed together. The worlds that emerge within her drawings are spaces where memory, imagination, observation and experience coexist and continuously influence one another.
Within her work, meaning remains open and evolves over time through experience and interpretation. Speekenbrink approaches images not as conclusions, but as points of entry. They invite exploration, recognition and discovery, while leaving room for ambiguity and for elements that remain unresolved.
