Inge van der Ven

Inge van der Ven

Inge van der Ven (Delft,1973), is a mixed media artist, gratuated at the Painting and Drawing department at the Rietveld Academy. Her work explores the relationship between interior and exterior, employing a wide range of materials and media. It includes drawings, paintings, collages, artefacts, ceramics, objects and installations. There is an intuitive approach which resonates intimacy, fragility and lightness.

The work is related to the concept of skin and its different characteristics: protection, interface between inside and outside,  filter, tactility and connection. Skin is a container, another key word in the approach of Inge van der Ven. She sees bodies as houses and houses as second skins, bodies, they are symbiotically related. Recurring elements in the work are materials and objects from our daily home environment that resonate with the idea of skin and containers or just because of the beauty of their imperfection.
