Veronica Pock

Veronica Pock

The natural world, especially the wild places where nature makes itself known in a raw, elemental way, are the greatest source of inspiration for artist and handweaver Veronica Pock. This fascination is expressed as woven wall hangings and panels that incorporate materials such as maps, papers and other found objects whose provenance reflects a sense of place, and which speak significantly through the work. Veronica’s process, however, begins off the loom; abstract works on paper use collage, printing and drawing techniques to explore the colours, textures and forms which are later reinterpreted as woven renditions.

Veronica studied fashion and textiles at the KABK, graduating in 2004 with a specialism in woven and constructed textiles. Since then she has continued to explore the woven textile as an art form, expanding her knowledge of the craft and enabling her to communicate her vision through its potential. The accompanying works on paper and canvas inform and reinforce the woven work, but also become important artworks in their own right.
